The insulation requirement for every construction project is both unique and complex, and for the designer, the task of developing an accurate project specification can be a demanding one.

Dow Construction Products, manufacturers of STYROFOAM*, one of Europe’s most widely used extruded polystyrene insulation materials, JPA Technical Literature and The Creative Department have all brought their respective areas of expertise to the table and jointly developed a sophisticated new information concept that has now been adopted throughout twelve countries across Europe.

Known as ‘STYROFOAM Solutions’, this immensely comprehensive package allows the user access to information covering every aspect of insulating with STYROFOAM.

We have worked on a number of diverse projects with JPA – who specialise in the writing and design of architectural material – and on this occasion it was our remit to write the brief and manage the entire project, including print and CD production.

To begin with, a binder was required, containing a complete set of technical brochures detailing all Dow building insulation solutions, ranging from below ground applications through to pitched, inverted and single-ply roofs. This meant the production of over ten major brochures – each in twelve languages.

Next was the production of a CD-ROM, to complement the binder material. In addition to the wealth of technical information contained on the CD, it also features, amongst other things, design details in CAD format and BBA certificates.

Running in parallel with the above activity, the ‘STYROFOAM Solutions’ website was developed. Probably one of the most comprehensive on-line resources of its type, the site offers the designer high performance, long-term insulation solutions, 24 hours a day, every day.
